Born in 1959 in London and grew up near Oxford, Charles began his career in the wine trade followed by a career change in the IT sector when the world became ‘technically globalized’. Being Francophiles and having spent 10 years during the summer months in France, Charles and his wife made a life-changing decision at age 40 to move to Normandy. Charles had always had a strong interest in 20th century history. He believes taking up residence in France where some of the most pivotal historical events took place, would complement his interest and his access to first-hand accounts of WWII. Other than teaching, discussion, researching about WWII, he considers his work a way for him to give thanks to those braves who speared their lives in WWII.
