Carwood Lipton (1920-2001)
Carwood Lipton was a prominent soldier who served during World War II as part of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division. He fought in some of the most significant battles of the war and notably participated in the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944.
Lipton was portrayed in the HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers,” which chronicles the experiences of Easy Company throughout the war. He was recognized for his courage, leadership, and dedication to his fellow soldiers. Lipton held the rank of First Sergeant and was known for his calm demeanor and strong sense of duty.
During the Normandy campaign, Lipton displayed exceptional bravery and leadership qualities. He was a respected figure within Easy Company and played a crucial role in maintaining morale and cohesion among the soldiers, especially during challenging and intense combat situations.
